Ho Chi Minh City half-day tour (13:30-18:00)

Begin with a visit to the Notre Dame Cathedral (outside), an iconic French colonial landmark, and the nearby Central Post Office, designed by Gustave Eiffel, showcasing stunning architecture and historic significance.

Explore the Reunification Palace, the former residence of South Vietnam’s presidents, steeped in history from the Vietnam War era. Continue to the War Remnants Museum, where thought-provoking exhibits narrate Vietnam’s wartime struggles.

If time permits, wander through a local market, bustling with vibrant stalls offering fresh produce, souvenirs, and a chance to experience the city’s lively atmosphere.

Cu Chi Tunnels is a legendary underground system of over 220 km of tunnels, a must-see for both Vietnamese and foreign travelers who are interested in the history of the Vietnam War. The tunnels are now a historical structure of Vietnam and considered a heroic district for the role they played in the resistance to US forces during the Vietnam War.

The tunnels are located approximately 60km from Ho Chi Minh city. The tour departs at 8:00 AM or 12:45 PM from your hotel in district 1. Enjoy the scenery along the way, as we pass the lush, endless rice fields and the ducks are water buffaloes swimming in the rivers. You might find it hard to imagine that once the area was almost completely destroyed by bombs and mines from the war, when Cu Chi was a “free target zone “.

Once we arrive, you will get a chance to walk through some of the tunnels, discover the hidden corners and imagine what life was like here for the resistance soldiers. If you like, try to cook with the smokeless stoves used by Vietnamese soldiers to cook during the war. You can even try foods which the soldiers lived on. If you’re feeling brave, or curious, you can even try your hand at shooting at AK-47, one of the guns used during the war. The bullets cost you extra.

Head back to the city in the afternoon; the tour finishes at 3:00 PM or  7:00 PM.

Your day begins at 7:30 AM with a hotel pickup by the tour guide, embarking on a scenic journey along the National Highway, surrounded by lush green rice fields.

At 9:00 AM, you’ll stop at the Mekong Rest Stop for some free time, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee (not included).

By 10:00 AM, you’ll visit the serene Vinh Trang Pagoda before arriving in My Tho at 10:30 AM. Here, you’ll board a wooden motorboat for a 20-minute ride to Unicorn Island, passing natural creeks, fishing ports, and stilt houses along the riverbank. Your first stop on the island is a bee farm, where you can taste authentic honey tea. Afterward, enjoy a leisurely walk-through quiet village, observing the daily life of the rural Mekong Delta residents. You’ll visit a seasonal orchard to sample tropical fruits while listening to traditional Southern Vietnamese folk music.

Next, board a small rowboat for a peaceful 10-minute journey through narrow canals lined with water coconut trees. Back on the motorboat, you’ll cruise past orchards before stopping at a village famous for its coconut candy and handcrafted coconut products. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning to My Tho and then to Ho Chi Minh City by bus, arriving around 6:00 PM.

8h15: Our tour guide picks you up at booking agents and heads to Can Gio, otherwise known as “Monkey Island”.

On arrival, we visited the mangrove forest to see over 1,000 monkeys living there. You also can feed and take photos with many monkeys surrounding and climbing on your shoulder. Continue with a short walk to alligator farm, where local people conserve many huge alligators from the “American war” and you can try “alligator fishing” (optional). Then take speed boats to “Sac” guerilla camp built in deep jungle. Today the camp has become a major tourist attraction giving the visitor a unique experience and a feel of what jungle life in the war must have been like.

We will then stop at a local seafood market selling various kinds of fresh seafood regarding octopus, lobster, ray, etc and dried foods. There, enjoy a welcome drink (sugar cane juice) before having Vietnamese style lunch at a beach resort, where we are at leisure for swimming and sight-seeing.

Before heading back to Saigon, we visited a nearby house of local people, then walked through their mango gardens and tasted fresh mangoes.

Finally, we transfer back to Ho Chi Minh city & end the tour at approximately 5:30 pm.
