Itinerary
Upon arrival in Ho Chi Minh City, you will be warmly welcomed by our local guide and picked up from Saigon Pier. Transfer to your hotel in the city center for check-in. The rest of the day is free at leisure to relax or explore the vibrant city at your own pace.
Ho Chi Minh City is widely known for its vibrant energy, yet beyond its modern rhythm lies a deeply spiritual and cultural dimension. This full-day guided tour is designed for travelers seeking a calm, authentic discovery of the city through its temples, pagodas, and traditional neighborhoods, while avoiding all war-related or historical military sites. The pace is relaxed, allowing meaningful encounters and quiet moments of observation.
The day begins with a visit to the Jade Emperor Pagoda, one of the most atmospheric Taoist temples in the city. Surrounded by clouds of incense and adorned with elaborate wood carvings, this sacred place offers insight into local beliefs, where residents come to pray for health, harmony, fertility, and prosperity. The visit provides an intimate look at everyday spiritual life in southern Vietnam.
The journey continues to Giac Lam Pagoda, the oldest Buddhist pagoda in Ho Chi Minh City, dating back to the 18th century. Nestled in a tranquil compound shaded by ancient trees, the pagoda reflects the simplicity and serenity of Vietnamese Buddhism. Guests will learn about monastic life and traditional practices while enjoying a peaceful escape from the city’s bustle.
In the afternoon, the tour leads to Thien Hau Temple in Cholon, the historic Chinese quarter of the city. Dedicated to the Goddess of the Sea, this colorful temple is a vibrant place of worship where incense coils hang from the ceiling and daily rituals unfold. The surrounding neighborhood reveals strong Chinese influences in architecture, commerce, and religious traditions.
A gentle walk through a nearby local market and traditional streets offers an authentic glimpse into daily Saigon life. Stalls filled with tropical fruits, flowers, incense, and handmade goods reflect the rhythms of the city and provide opportunities to interact with local residents in a natural and respectful way.
The tour also includes short exterior visits to iconic colonial-era buildings such as the Central Post Office and the Opera House, highlighting the French architectural legacy without entering historical exhibitions. These brief stops offer cultural context while maintaining the tour’s soft and contemplative spirit.
Throughout the day, transportation is provided by private air-conditioned vehicle, accompanied by a French-speaking guide. Walking is easy and limited, with regular breaks and time to relax. This experience is ideal for senior travelers or those seeking a refined cultural introduction to Ho Chi Minh City, centered on spirituality, tradition, and everyday life rather than historical conflict.
Our tour guide will meet and pick you up at your hotel to transfer to Tan Son Nhat International Airport in a private air-conditioned vehicle for your flight to Central Vietnam.
Upon arrival, our local tour guide will pick you up at Phu Bai International Airport (Hue) and transfer you to your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle. Our guide will be on hand to assist you with the hotel check-in process, ensuring a smooth and comfortable transition to the imperial city.
In the morning, our guide will pick you up at your hotel for a full-day tour of Hue City, the former Imperial Capital of Vietnam from 1802–1945 and the last refuge of Vietnamese feudalism. Begin with the Hue Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring a 520-hectare grand complex built in the early 1800s. Explore the three enclosures separated by heavy ramparts: Kinh Thanh Hue (Civic City), Hoang Thanh (Royal City), and Tu Cam Thanh (Forbidden City).
Next, move on to Khai Dinh Tomb, the burial site of Vietnam’s second-to-last king and the most elaborate of the imperial tombs. This site showcases a vivid European influence in its architecture blended with traditional Asian styles. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant to sample Hue’s famous regional cuisine.
In the afternoon, take a dragon boat cruise along the Perfume River to enjoy the open views and beautiful landscapes along the banks. Stop to visit Thien Mu Pagoda, an active Buddhist monastery dating back to 1601 that overlooks the river from a scenic vantage point.
Continue by car to Minh Mang Tomb, the final resting place of the second Emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty. Finally, conclude your day with a stop for shopping at Dong Ba Market, the city’s traditional commercial center and a great place to observe local life.
The trip starts at 17:30. You will enjoy around a half-hour cruise during the golden hour, perfect for photography to view Hue at its most beautiful moment. Our guide will meet you and transfer you to Toa Kham boat wharf, located right beside the iconic Truong Tien Bridge.
Then, take a dragon boat ride along the romantic Perfume River across the capital city of Hue. Rest your mind and enjoy the beautiful landscapes along the riverbanks as the sun sets. Take in a panoramic view of Hue city while listening to traditional Vietnamese folk songs performed onboard, creating a truly atmospheric evening experience.
After breakfast, depart Hue for Hoi An by private vehicle, traveling along the scenic Hai Van Pass with short stops for photos. Upon arrival in Hoi An, continue to Cam Thanh Village, a peaceful rural area surrounded by coconut forests and waterways.
Board a local basket boat to Cam Thanh water coconut village to learn about the daily life of Vietnamese fishermen, their families, and their community. Begin cruising to the Cua Dai River, where thousands of water coconut trees once served as a habitat for the Vietnamese army during the war.
Join local fishermen on the river to experience traditional fishing techniques using round nets or cast nets. Learn how to paddle the unique Vietnamese bamboo basket boat and explore the now tranquil, coconut-palm flanked waterways of a past war, hearing of the extreme conditions endured by soldiers. Conclude the tour by transferring back to your hotel.
In the morning, meet our guide at your hotel and transfer about 40 km West of Hoi An to visit My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO-recognized World Heritage Site. This cluster of abandoned and partially ruined Hindu temples was constructed between the 4th and 14th centuries by the Kings of Champa. During this period, the valley was a sacred site for religious ceremonies and a burial place for Cham royalty and national heroes. Transfer back to Hoi An for lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, discover the charm of Hoi An as a famous World Heritage Site. Once a bustling maritime commercial port between the 15th and 19th centuries, it is now a peaceful town of exceptionally well-preserved architecture and traditions. The town exemplifies a fascinating fusion of cultures, including influences from China, Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines.
Highlights for sightseeing include the iconic 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge, the Museum of Trade Ceramics (an elegant wooden house built in 1858), the 200-year-old Tan Ky House, and Ong Temple, built in 1653 by Chinese settlers to worship Guan Yu. This walking tour offers a deep dive into the resilient spirit and artistic heritage of this ancient port.
Our driver will pick you up at your hotel in Hoi An and transfer you to Da Nang Airport for your flight to Hanoi. Upon arrival at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide holding a sign with your name on it. After approximately 50 minutes to 1 hour transfer, you will arrive at your hotel for check-in.
Hanoi, or the “River-bound City” as its name literally means, is Vietnam’s capital with a thousand-year-old history dating back to 1010. The city’s fascinating beauty is characterized by unique cultural relics, ancient streets of antique houses, elegant French colonial buildings, tree-lined boulevards, and romantic lakes, making it one of the most charming cities in Asia.
In the morning, start a full-day city tour beginning with the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology. This museum contains a rich collection of audio-visual documentation and more than 15,000 artifacts, including life-size traditional houses depicting the life, culture, and beliefs of the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam. Continue to the Temple of Literature, the first university of Vietnam built in 1070 to honor Confucius and outstanding scholars. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, visit the Ho Chi Minh Complex, which honors the life of the nation’s founder. Explore Ba Dinh Square, the Presidential Palace, the Ho Chi Minh Museum, and the humble house on stilts where he lived and worked. Stop by the iconic One Pillar Pagoda, built in the 11th Century and designed to resemble a lotus blossom rising from a pond.
Next, visit a museum of your choice: the Hoa Lo Prison Museum (the “Hanoi Hilton”), the Museum of Fine Arts, the Vietnamese Women’s Museum, or the National Museum of History. Afterward, stroll by Hoan Kiem Lake to see Ngoc Son Temple, accessible by its famous red wooden bridge. Conclude the day with a cyclo ride through the bustling Old Quarter or relax with a coffee at a local café.
After breakfast, depart for Ninh Binh, a region renowned for its dramatic limestone landscapes and rich historical heritage. Upon arrival, enjoy a boat excursion in Trang An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Glide gently along emerald waterways, passing through limestone caves, quiet valleys, and sacred temples nestled among towering karst formations. This serene experience offers a harmonious blend of nature, history, and spirituality.
Continue to Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam in the 10th century. Visit the temples dedicated to King Dinh and King Le, and learn about the early foundations of Vietnamese history amid a peaceful rural setting.
In the afternoon, visit Bai Dinh Pagoda, the largest Buddhist complex in Vietnam. Stroll through its spacious grounds, admire impressive statues and architecture, and take time to appreciate the tranquil atmosphere of this important spiritual site. At the end of the day, return to Hanoi.
Following breakfast, depart Hanoi for a 2.5-hour drive to Bai Tu Long Bay, including a 20-minute stop en route. Arrive at the jetty towards noon and proceed with check-in formalities. Be welcomed onboard and enjoy lunch while the cruise sails into the tranquil waters of Bai Tu Long Bay, known for its pristine scenery and fewer tourist boats.
In the afternoon, take part in light visits and activities depending on the cruise itinerary, such as visiting a local fishing village or enjoying gentle kayaking. Alternatively, simply relax on board and admire the stunning limestone karst landscape.
Towards the end of the day, the boat anchors for the night in a peaceful area nestled among the karst formations. Dinner is served on board, allowing you to enjoy the serenity of the bay under the stars.
Enjoy the fresh morning air in the heart of Bai Tu Long Bay as the sun rises over the tranquil waters. Breakfast is served on board (or brunch, depending on the vessel) while the cruise glides slowly through the magnificent limestone formations before heading back towards the port.
